I would argue that some shows are more concerned with informing as opposed to entertaining. Although to what degree those shows are concerned with accuracy is very subjective.

I for one feel that Fox News is one of the most balanced news networks I've ever come across. Perhaps it is slightly skewed to the right, but the only reason many consider it so ultra-conservative is simply because its not so ultra-liberal like every other network (i.e. CNN, MSNBC). I believe that the mere existence of a news network slightly biased to the right brings balance to a world otherwise completely outweighed to the left.

If I had to pick a "general" news network to watch, I'd choose Fox, but all I really ever want is financial news. Therefore I like CNBC. I find that it's hard to put a partisan spin on pure financial news. I'm sure there's some spin somewhere, but it has to be a minimum with this type of news.

The mere fact that Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Shawn Hannity are on Fox News does more than slightly skew the station to the right, it launches it. I've heard that Sarah Palin might even get her own show on Fox. The only person missing would be Rush Limbaugh.

Both Daily Show and Fox News are pretty extreme in my opinion in terms of how they are relative to the other major news information programs, and while they're worthwhile in present day, I hope that a day comes in journlism where the presence of those types of outlier programs are unnecessary.

I don't recall saying that Fox was balanced at all. I said, when compared to the other networks, Fox is the most balanced. I then went on to say that it was skewed to the right, but the mere existence of a conservative biased news network brings balance to an otherwise completely liberal news world. I will attempt to summarize my arguments.

In my opinion, Fox News is the most balanced news network in America. Perhaps it is biased to the right, but, also in my opinion, is it not nearly as biased to the right as every other news network is biased to the left. It is, without question, no more biased to the right as every other news network is to the left. The existence of a conservative biased news network brings balance to a world dominated by liberal news networks. The uneducated, faggots, and ethnic minorities (aka liberals) do not like Fox News because it presents the news in a way that does not coincide with their belief structure. For people who claim to be so open-minded, they are without a doubt the most close-minded people I've ever seen (and thereby the biggest hypocrites). I think the fact that Fox is the most watched cable news network shows that many other Americans feel the same as I do.

When you watch CNN, reporting news, of course you see facts being presented, a news organization cannot just make shit up (look what happened to Dan Rather). If you watch the G-Block on Fox, you will also see the news being reported. When you watch the O'Riley Factor, of course you're going to see more emotionally charged segments of news reported, because it's more of a news-talk-show. You get the same type of shit when you watch Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC or any number of other similar news shows on television.

I think the best way to decide which way a news network swings politically is to look at what they choose to report. I think the war in Iraq is a great example. When Bush was president, CNN's top story would be something like: 5 solders die in Iraq, or mass civilian casualties in Iraq, or the war in Iraq is failing miserably...etc. Fox News would report something like, least violence in Iraq for the past 2 months, Iraq achieves its first ever democratic election, top Al-Qaeda leader captured...etc.

Or you can look at how the report on the economy. For example, when Bush was president CNN would report, worst economic recession of all time, unemployment numbers reach 5 year high...etc. Now that Obama is president, Fox reports things like, biggest government deficit in the history of the presidency, Obama's stimulus plan is showing absolutely no effect...etc.
