![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. ![]() |

If the name sounds familiar, Teague was in the news back in July 2007 after fleeing from constables. He said he was rushing to get help for a sick cat; investigators later found dozens of animals inside his Dallas home. Animal rights groups say Teague is the textbook definition of an "animal hoarder." Family members say Teague has lived in a cramped motel room with 21 cats for the past two months. The animals, suffering from a variety of medical issues, were hauled away on Monday after living in filth. "it's pretty awful," said Jonnie England of the Metroplex Animal Coalition. "The stench is terrible. There are litter boxes all over the floor, open cat carriers, piles of food." Teague's stepfather, Rudy Gibson, said he has been powerless to help. "I've fought him now for quite some time trying to get him off this, but he's got a fascination with cats." It's a fascination we first learned about in 2007, when Teague led police on a high speed chase for more than an hour. File Ron Teague He told investigators at the time he was trying to get his cat to a vet. "My cat is dying; I'm pretty upset," he said. Later, more than 70 animals were discovered at his Dallas home, including some that were dead and wrapped in towels inside his refrigerator. "Classicly, an animal hoarder thinks that they can care for them better than anyone else," England said. "They love them to death — literally." Teague has already been banned from most area animal shelters, but it's believed he found pets he was caring for in his hotel room in other ways. Investigators found newspaper clippings in his room with "free kitten" ads circled. There is also concern that some of the cats may have been stolen. The recovered felines are now being cared for and should be ready for adoption in a matter of weeks. |

In 1998, when the king of Liberia passed away, it was found that, unbeknownst to anyone else, he had named his cat as his successor in his will. There was a 3 day interim period where the cat was actually the ruling monarch before the country's courts could overrule the will with some bullshit technicality loophole they found.
I'm guessing this picture was taken during that period. |
