On a mild spring afternoon, two Nubblites joined in a game of horse. Being the explorers that they were, they decided to play "Nubblies" instead of "horse." Of course, the game would be played the same...the only difference would be the length...or would it? The creativity of the two combined with a little bit of time sparked what will soon be the basis of the First Official "Sports-Related" Nubblies Tournament.
The goal of this tournament is to have a 16-man bracket-style competition. The tournament will be $5 per person. It will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2003 (the First Day of Summer) at 12 Noon at the house of Ugly Bastard. This means two things. Firstly, start saving your money so you have the $5 to play, and secondly ask for work off. Food will be provided. The only thing I ask, is that if it is within your means, throw me a buck or two for the hamburgers/brats/hot dogs, buns, condiments, desert, etc. Or, if you like, bring some food of your own to share, just let us know what (if anything) you'll be bringing before-hand. Some of you may hesitate a bit...thinking that tossing $5 into this tournament is like tossing $5 into a tank of angry shit-salmon. If you're thinking "he just described me," you are very wrong. The game has been tinkered with to the point of perfection. Yes, skill is a part of the game and, of course, being able to guide a basketball will be helpful...but that's not all of it. Some may even argue that it isn't even half of it. You're going to have to take our word, basketball skill is not going to make or break you in this tournament. If it did, Trout Sniffer would not be invited. But he is. So it won't. So yeah, we expect to see all of the Nubblies regulars there. No excuse will be deemed acceptable for not arriving. We figure if we can get BDH/pliedes/tonguegina/Trout/Titan/vader/Niger/Rudy/Timmy Two Beers/Rufus/Dirty Harry/buckeye/nigga187/Lethal/BrassMonkees/victim (yes..victim) and the two of us out here, plus the several others that will be invited, we should be able to get 16 (or hopefully more) to show for the gala. The full-rules of how the game is played will be provided in a day near to this one, just know that you should be pleasantly surprised with how much the game of "Horse" has been tweaked. The first round of the tournament will find each person playing "bear." As the round levels increase, so will the amount of letters in the games being played until, in the last round, the competitors will find themselves in a nice game of "Nubblies." As of right this second, we are thinking "winner takes all" for the pot, (which would be $80) this is subject to change, however. Even if you don't plan on playing the game, feel free to attend. The schindig will rest around the tournament; however, Euchre is slated to be played all about. If you don't know, Ugly Bastard's house is located in Hodges Edition near Lincoln School. If you don't know where that is, perhaps you should look at this map. The address is 610 N. Lincoln Street, it's a White-House with Black-Shudders. If by some chance you're blind and/or just can't read maps, go ahead and PM one of us...we'll clue you in. If you need a ride, just reply as such, and we're sure someone would be more than glad to pick you up. Ugly Bastard=In Orgazmo=In We'll see ya there. -Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard [ June 03, 2003, 02:23 PM: Message edited by: Ugly Bastard ] |

Here's the thing though, we really need exact rules laid out ahead of time, just to prevent the mounds of bitching about technicalities which will inevitably ensue (mostly from me, probably_. |

Don't you worry about that. We've only played the game a few times, but in those few times we have come up with Exact rules. We've only ever had one discrepancy...which came tonight. It was a short debate about whether or not a ball that strikes the pole is considered an air-ball. Believe it or not, that type of thing is very important for this game. By the way, it turns out that it is not.
We're going to play the game at least one more time between now and the tournament, taking noted down of every single rule to ensure that we don't miss anything in the big post. Having exact rules won't be a problem. |

Where's the flip-off smiley when you need it?
Besides, when I was younger and in my prime I beat 15 people in a game of horse... hmm... which, come to think of it, probably means they let me win. Oh damn. Fucking childhood... so... yeah, moving on, unless I hang myself from the ceiling fan or have other plans that I don't actually know about, you can count me in. |

I'm looking forward to this, I really am. I to would also like to know the rules in advance, I don't think "suprising" us with the rules will really do much you know. |

I am a probably. I see no reason why I would not be in, but I don't want my nuts cut off if I find out I do have something. I will, of course, confirm my status in the near future after checking a few schedules.
And Ugly Bastard, thank you for the invitation, although I am not really that good at shooting and such, so there shouldn't be a problem there. I am interested in playing this game, and will hopefully be able to play with yourself and Orgazmo before this tournament. |

Probables:
1.) Rufus 2.) vader 3.) Pliedes 4.) victim (New Category....people who say they're "In" without wanting to risk their nuts) In: 1.) Trout 2.) buckeye 3.) BDH "I said I was in, so if I don't show you can cut my nuts off.": 1.) UB 2.) Orgazmo 3.) Lethal We will have the rules of the game posted by tonight or tomorrow morning. Someone who is better friends with these guys than I am, tell Antram, Bruick, Demetter, Wilhite, and all those other Euchre guys from Lethal's parties to come, so we can have a nice little euchre tournament after the kick-ass Nubblies Tournament. Something to keep in mind, anyone is welcome to come to this thing and play in the tournament. So if you want to bring your friends and what-not, that's cool. The more people in this tournament, the funner it will be. One more thing, a lot of you are hesitant about wanting to play in this tournament becuase you're afraid it's a waste of your five dollars, and you don't like the fact that you don't know the rules. Seriously, just come...it's just like "Horse" but funner. It's no surprise mystery game or any shit like that...just "Horse", but way pimper... -Ugly Bastard [ June 05, 2003, 07:35 AM: Message edited by: Ugly Bastard ] |

We compose this post with the intention to lay-out the rules for the game of "Nubblies". This is the same game that will be the focus of a gathering mentioned in the premier post of this thread.
Without further ado, we give you the The Game of Nubblies: ____________________________________ Something to keep in mind as you read these rules; these rules are merely a variation to the game of "Horse". All rules to the game of "Horse" apply unless over-ridden by the following rules. Terms and Definitions: </font>
It may be a bit foggy reading these rules on here, but once you come to the tournament, and see the game laid out before your eyes, you will see it's quite easy to follow. Rules: - Discretion will be used at all times by the moderator(s) of the game. Their decision may or may not over-ride any of the following rules - The Taller of the two competitors shoots for possession at the top of the key before the round starts - "Prove-Its" are in effect. If the king makes a shot, and the slave misses it and picks up his final letter of the word, the king must then make the shot again to prove it. If the king makes the prove-it, the game ends, and the king wins. If the king misses the prove-it, he loses his kingship, the slave becomes the king, and the letter is stricken from the word for the slave - Anytime the king fails to convert his strike, he loses his kingship - "Left-hand" "Right-hand" are not in the vocabulary of this game. "Strong-hand" "Weak-hand" are the words used when the king is predicting his strike - When the ball hits the ground, the attempt is dead unless otherwise stated in the king's prediction - "Shot" is not assumed - The king's first shot counts as his strike (in other words: you can't putz around and shoot the ball 100 times between your actual strikes) - The slave's shot only counts as his counter-strike if he was in the general vicinity (within a couple feet) of the king's strike-location - No more than one minute will pass between strike/counter-strike/strike/counter-strike...etc., unless extreme circumstances ensue (ie: Basketball pops, king drops dead on basketball court, Lethal's sister walks onto the basketball court and asks which one of the contestants would like to go fuck her in the woods, etc) - If the moderator of the game cannot decide whether a strike or counter-strike was successful or unsuccessful, a redo is in line - If anything is said during the king's prediction, make is optional unless otherwise stated ____________________________________ The Sexbear: The sexbear is the most complex part of the game of Nubblies. Each contestant is allotted one Sexbear per game, when game is defined as a single-word that is being spelled in a setting of the game of "Horse". The sexbear is complex, and hard to explain on paper, so bear with me. When one of the contestants decides to use his Sexbear, he attempts a strike from anywhere. The number of gems that he hits with his strike are counted. Say he hits two gems (Backboard and Rim...for example), that number is remembered. Now, the slave must attempt the same shot, and his number of gems-hit is remembered. Here is the chart for what happens once each contestant's gems are tallied: </font>
If either contestant is drawn to his last letter without it automatically being proved (example: you have N-U-B-B-L-I-E, and the king beats you by one letter) each contestant reattempts his shot. If the king gets any amount of gems more than the slave, the game is over, and the king wins. If the slave ties, or beats the king on the prove-it attempts, the letter is dropped, the king loses the possession, and the slave becomes the king. However, if one contestant has N-U-B-B-L-I and the king beats him by two gems, then fails to convert on his prove it, then slave is left with N-U-B-B-L-I-E. That is the sexbear as simple as we know how to explain it. It's a piece of cake to understand once you're playing the game. ____________________________________ FAQ's: What makes "Nubblies" better than "Horse"? </font>
Rules of The June 21st Nubblies Tournament (as mentioned in the above posts): - Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard will be the moderators of the tournament. As the creators of the game, they will come into the tournament knowing more about it's rules than anyone else, and therefore will be the moderators. As time goes on, if other people become very knowledgeable about the game of Nubblies, then they will be more than welcome to be the moderators at future Nubblies Tournaments. - Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard's word is final on all discrepancies that may arise during the tournament. - Each contestant (including the moderators) puts in $5 at the beginning of the tournament. The winner of the tournament takes all contestant's entry money as the prize for the win. - Anyone is welcome to enter this tournament...anyone. - Each human being on this planet is only allowed to enter this tournament one time. No multiple entries from the same people. - If in the event that both Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard meet in a round of the tournament to play against each other, they will both agree on one (or two) other attendees to act as the moderators for their match. During said match, Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard's word is still final, assuming they both agree on the problem that would arise. The use of the moderator in this instance would be to break a tie vote between Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard in their dual. - Each player will write his name, strong hand, weight, and height on a post-it note before the tournament. At this point, the contestant will also submit his $5 entry fee. All of the said post-it notes will be gathered, and used to draw a random pool for the bracket that comprises the tournament. - There is no number of people who can enter this tournament that would prompt the moderators to say "we're not going to do a single-elimination bracket". No matter how many people enter in the tournament, a bracket will be designed to fit the number of people playing. Bye rounds will be given out accordingly, and all contestants will have an equal chance at obtaining a first-round bye. - The first round of the tournament will see contestants spelling out the word "bear". Each following round, one letter will be added to the word for the contestants. No matter how many people or rounds that are played, the word that will be used for the championship round will be, "Nubblies". ____________________________________ Non Nubblies-Tournament Related Notes For The June 21st Gathering: - Euchre will be played all about. We're confident a huge-ass euchre tournament will spawn out of this gathering sometime after the Nubblies-Tournament. A picnic table and a card table will be available to use outdoors for the purpose of euchre. - Food will be provided. If you could be so kind as to throw Ugly Bastard a dollar or two for the huge-ass amount of food and drink that he will be purchasing for this event, that would be greatly appreciated. - No alcohol or drugs of any kind will be permitted on the grounds of Ugly Bastard's property during this gathering. - Again, anyone is welcome to come to this gathering.....anyone. Invite your parents for all we care. Not a soul on this Earth is not welcome at this gathering. The more people we have, the more competitive the Nubblies Tournament, and likely Euchre Tournament will be. - Here is a map to Ugly Bastard's house. The address is 610 North Lincoln Street; Warsaw. If you cannot read this map, feel free to PM, ICQ (149975047), or call (265-6250) Ugly Bastard, he will be more than happy to explain to you where his house it at. It's not too tough to find. - The gathering starts at 12:00 PM (Noon) on Saturday, June 21st 2003 at stated location. The Nubblies Tournament will start very shortly thereafter. ____________________________________ We look forward to seeing all of you there. This will be the biggest gathering in Nubblies.net's history. Some of you are going to walk away as wealthy men after this day is over. See ya there. -Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard [ June 05, 2003, 09:54 PM: Message edited by: Ugly Bastard ] |
