Weed might be legal in California pretty soon... There's pretty wide spread support for it around here, but who knows what's going to happen when people get in the booth. Not that it's not basically already legal anyway. You can get a card if you've got 25 minutes and $80 to spare.

IMO, this is the biggest issue on any ballot, in any state. It's not because weed should or shouldn't be legal, but that if it passes, it will define state versus fed. It will define the 10th amendment, since weed isn't not considered illegal in the U.S. Constitution. This battle has already been going on for years since MMJ was initially passed, but it will only get bigger when California and other states pass it. It's coming up in Nevada in 2012 and will likely pass this time around. The war is on our door steps.

We have political problems, sure, but we AREN'T THAT OPPRESSED (to warrant a real revolution, anyways). Especially white Christian America who seems to the culprits of all this bitching. This should be solved by democracy, not by violence. A true revolution would be much more damaging to the country than you clearly think. We aren't nearly as commonly united as we were during the American Revolution. You sound like a hyper-nationalist war mongering retard. And I don't even want to hear you say some bullshit about "I was only being metaphorical, not talking about a REAL war, just political" -- you have already endorsed a violent revolution in one other thread.

I was going to condemn you for alleging that post to be in favor of an actual violent response but if that actually happened in another thread, then yes that's f3lix is simply ridiculous. But reps for making me think about rambo playing "taps" while standing waist deep in the blood of his enemies. It's actually even funnier when it's on a trombone.

I want our government to return to its constitutional restrictions and nothing more. I support the cause of those who wish to return to it, as well.
If you'd pay attention to anything regarding the 10th amendment, Blonde, you'd see more and more fighting by the states against the fed. Marijuana laws, Obamacare, and Gay marriage are all topics that the states want personal control over. Things are getting more and more ugly around here and I fucking love it. The DEA has gone and raided Marijuana dispensaries in California, taken their weed illegally (without a warrant signed by a judge), taken their computers with patient records on them, and forced them to start over from scratch. Why is this wrong? Because California legalized MMJ and it is perfectly legal in their state to do this. The DEA does not have the constitutional right to literally STEAL these companys' property. The states need to stand up to the federal government and relocate their stance on defending the 10th amendment. What this takes is sending less money to Washington. All Washington does is tax and redistribute and if your state doesn't do what it wants, they withhold "funding" (our money in the first place) and your state has less to work with. It's bullshit. The states need to rediscover their own power and push their citizens to support repealing things like the federal income tax, which would severely cripple the funding of the federal government. |

F3lix, we agree on a lot of issues. It's just that the thing i'm not willing to support is a bunch of crazy right wing nutjobs just because they are currently the "best bet to getting back to the Constitution.
Feds will enforce drug laws even if Prop 19 passes | abc7news.com This is fucked up, I think we can both agree. However, where does the Tea Party (the bastardized, fucked up version that HAS taken over despite what you're willing to admit) stand on the legalization of marijuana? Tea partiers in California? The problem I'm highlighting is the "Libertarianism" should, ideally be a merge or progressivism and constitutionalism. Abiding by the constitution doesn't necessarily mean "closed-minded ignorant traditionalist fucks who want to live like it was 220 years ago". But that's the direction we're heading if we elect the current Tea Party. |

When has f3lix refused to admit that the tea party has been taken over by nutjobs? I believe he's mentioned this more than once. Also, I side mostly with everything f3lix has said in this thread and not at all with the people saying "he sucks" while not arguing his points.

A key point, in the DEA's eyes, is that those are Medical Marijuana places, which apparently they are willing to turn a blind eye to. Take away the absurd notion that they are medical, and the DEA will take issue with it. All of this is so goddamned stupid; legalize all drugs and the positives outweigh the negatives.

Blonde,
What I'm trying NOT to do is give people a reason to abandon the tea party before the election. I still want them in over the establishment candidates and I think it'd be a good thing to see how they do, when elected. What most of the tea party bashing encompasses is a landslide of negative press against those who support the tea party candidates and O'Donnell. Little do they wish to argue the issues (because that's where the Tea Party excels) and they'd like to just attack supporters and try to frame them as lunatic extremists. Excluding O'Donnell, when the majority of the tea party candidates get into the debates, the argument turns into a fundamental use of government. Those are the issues I focus on, not what happens when passionate people get physical with each other. I personally think we should be embracing the fact that more then 5% of the general public is finally passionate about politics, since it controls their every day lives. |

The problem with the tea party is that it's been hijacked by social conservatives. For all of their rhetoric about liberty and getting government out of people's lives, these are people who have almost identical social policies to their Republican cousins. And I think sometimes all of the federal bashing goes too far. I don't want every fucking state seceding. Taxes could stand to be lowered, but abolished? But perhaps most troubling of all is the anti-intellectual populist rhetoric coming out of this new tea party. For one thing it's insulting since most of these politicians are the millionaire ivy league educated elitists they claim to be running against. And when I say anti-intellectualism I'm not talking about really intense intellectualism either - I'm talking about basic shit, like calling evolution bullshit and hating the "lamestream" media - as if any of these people realize just how important a free, albeit flawed, media is.
What's annoying about your position in all of this Felix is your absolutist mentality. You should know (as an Obama hater) that change isn't always good. Just because these people are different doesn't mean they'll be any good either. You seem to turn a blind eye towards any questionable shit regarding the tea party - that or you rationalize like a total apologist - yet seem hypocritical by jumping down the throat of any politician not associated with the tea party. I'm all for liberty too. I like some of the principles behind the original tea party movement. But I think your single-mindedness gets you into trouble sometimes. All of that said, I do admire your conviction. I wish more people were as engaged as you are in all of this. |

Blonde, like I said. I don't need to do anything. The Tea Party is going to win their elections (excluding O'Donnell.) She's going to lose no matter what. The rest will win. I have no reason to raise a stink about anything, because American's are on my side right now. When they aren't on my side, I'll bring forth debate vids and the such. I'm just happy to be cruising to an election that I've been dreaming of for over a decade; an election in which people care about our freedoms and are passionate about defending them.

I went to a tea party rally once. When it was first starting, before it had a name, and it was just that rant santelli went on, and a friend said it would be interesting. It was interesting but not in the way I was expecting. I was embarassed to even be there. The people who attended were the lowest common denominator. Some of the ideas are decent but any party built on getting unemployed and undereducated people to carry placards has some making up to do in my mind. On the other hand felix is right, these are the ideas that most americans want to get behind. TAXES=SOCIALISM OMG! CZARS=COMMUNISM! HEALTH CARE=ANTICHRIST. But there you go. It's a democracy and a really large number of americans are kind of idiots.

Blonde, I have no idea why you are so wound up about this. I don't follow every race in every state regarding tea party candidates and don't claim to be an expert on them. I can tell you that in my home state, Sharron Angle has my full attention in her quest to beat Harry Reid. I've followed Angle for years, back to when she was in the state senate and I loved how she voted nearly nearly every time. She's one of the few "tea party" candidates that has held office already, but has been a Libertarian using the GOP for years. UB was with me the night of the primary when she won and I was as giddy as could be, because I knew how huge it was that SHE was facing Harry Reid. I saw Reid as unable to be reelected based on the anti-incumbent wave and that Reid had burned too many bridges in Nevada to elect him one more time, despite being the Senate Majortity Leader. I was thrilled that Angle, who is an uncompromising woman, would represent me. Of course I don't like that she says things like, "God told me to run for Senate" but I do like that she votes using the constitution (especially Nevada's state constitution) as her guide.
No candidate is perfect for me and none probably ever will be, but I do align with the tea party thought process as well as some others already in Congress like Ron Paul and Jeff Flake. I hope this personal response opens your eyes a bit about me being "smug" in my reasons for not caring risk anything for the election victories at hand. |

??? Do you not see the inconsistency in these posts? Also, you didn't address Repug's (very precise) post above at all, namely this part: Quote:
I also understand this is the best party for you, and while it may not be perfect for you it's the one you're most in line with. But why defend every little fuckup they have then? Why not just admit a fuckup as a fuckup? (O'Donnell aside).

We'd be stupid not to (pass it that is).
You bring up an interesting point about religion though. Why on earth would religious groups be so anti-marijuana and have no problem with alcohol? I know this marijuana vs. alcohol discussion has been done to death but not necessarily from this standpoint. The only reason I can conceive that it's any different from alcohol is that it's been illegal for so long and has adopted a stigma. Does anyone know if there was major religious opposition to ending prohibition? Meh, all I can find is nonsense about "polluting the body" which basically proves my point. |
