Really interesting article showing how much land area it would take to power the world, I think I've posted it before: Land Art Generator Initiative

Maybe. It's very expensive though and has a lot more risk than solar power. You're probably right though; it will probably take until our great grandkids' or even their kids' generation before people finally just say "hmm... why don't we just put solar panels everywhere and be done with this?"
It doesn't make sense to power Earth with Earth when the sun is free and a ridiculously more sustainable option. |

I've read literally dozens of articles on fusion over the past year and all of them say the same thing: fusion or fission based power plants are, and have always been, about 25 years away. Relink your shit and I might read it ... not scrolling up for another article about some fucking physicists "almost" having fusion figured out.

Solar panels and in particular the batteries that store solar power need a lot of work before they become practically and widely viable. There are also, unfortunately, environmental issues with the processes that create solar panels as well, which can be just as damaging, if not more damaging than burning fossil fuels.
On a similar note, I find it humorous (although I suppose we can't blame everybody) that electric cars are getting such hype. On top of, as I just mentioned, the manufacturing processes that contribute to pollution and greenhouse gases, most people never stop to think where is the energy that i'm charging my electric car coming from?, the answer to which, in the vast majority of cases, is from a power planet burning coal. |

If I had a diesel vehicle and the room and the time and money to set it up, I'd absolutely convert it to run on vegetable oil. But I have none of the above, so.... Yeah. Gonna continue that whole "part of the problem" thing.

Technology like this takes decades to perfect ... where we are at now is a rung on the ladder that must unfortunately be stepped upon to get to the next level of innovation. Same thing with electric cars and biofuels.

Very interesting TED Talk. Pretty exciting to think about the technology in the video being implemented in more and more things. |

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
