Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. At approximately 6:00 am Hawaiian time on September 14, 2006, Dog Chapman, his son Leland, and his associate Tim Chapman (unrelated) were arrested by the US Marshals at the request of the Mexican government. Dog is being charged with "deprivation of liberty" in connection to his detention of Mr. Luster, a felony under Mexican law which can lead to a sentence of up to 4 years. The statute of limitations for this crime was set to expire about a month from the date of the Dog's arrest.
On September 15, all three were released on bail in the United States ($300,000 for Duane and $100,000 each for Leland and Tim) after a judge determined they were not flight risks. While out on bail, all three will be required to remain in the state of Hawaii and wear electronic monitoring systems. All three are under curfew and must remain within 150 feet of their homes between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am. A date for an extradition hearing has not been set but could take place as early as late November of 2006. |
